They are. I'm fairly slender (but tall) and definitely notice the difference between the 781 and 77W.

No. It's just that the 781 fuselage is more narrow, so the seats also need to be.

I'll take the 77W any day of the week (and twice on Sunday) over the 781. Increased seat width, those awesomely HUGE engines, plus the lack of Channel 9 on the Dreamliners (if that matters to you).

Yes, every Polaris seat - regardless of aircraft type - has the shoulder belt.

Another reason I prefer the 77W over the Dreamliners is that on the Dreamliners, UA FAs tend to set the windows on the darkest setting, then lock the window controls so you can't adjust them. You can still see out, but it sucks for picture-taking. The 77Ws still have the old fashioned pull-down shades. 😎 Case in point:

If none of the above matter to you, then go for the 781. The difference in cabin pressure / humidity is definitely noticeable and I felt much better after an 8+ hour flight.
