Apologies for digging up an old thread but thought people may appreciate an update given this thread is quite out of date. Just travelled out of Cairo this morning.

Checkin was relatively well organised with 1 desk for CE and status. Seemed to be four or five desks for ET and no queue for either.

People mentioned an additional security check on leaving the lounge but I didn’t experience this; the only check was at entry to the airport and post immigration. They were “randomly” selecting people for manual searches at the gate lounge but no restrictions on liquids at this point.

The lounge was a bit weird, with the boarding pass check at one desk, then through another area with seats cordoned off, then into an open area which had a nondescript door (this was not signed, I had to ask a cleaner for directions). This then led me to another lobby with automatic doors past a desk which was not staffed.

Boarding from the gate lounge was done by group. Starting with group 1, then going up the numbers (none of the group 1-3 nonsense). This was enforced by the gate agent, with many people being turned back.
