I had a situation a few years back where another pax came up, and said he was going to move my bag a few rows back so he could get his in.

I was somewhat assertive in saying that he would be the one who would be putting his bag a few rows back. Going by the reaction I received, I can only assumed he pulled this trick fairly often and had gotten his way every time.

Moral of the story - stand your ground. If you are seated and your bag is stowed, it’s down to the person who comes along later to deal with the inconvenience of having their bag stashed away from them. Regardless of whether it’s crew or anyone else.
