Just wanted to add a data point to this thread as I read through much of it before applying myself. I was cited and charged with 3 misdemeanors relating to a single incident in early 2022, all charges were dismissed several months later, no convictions. I knew that this should not be disqualifying for GE but that I would likely have to explain myself. I obtained a certified copy of the dismissal from the courthouse, and submitted my GE application on 8/31, answering no to the conviction question and writing honestly in the text box that I had been charged with misdemeanor offenses in 2022 which were fully dismissed. I figured this would cause a delay in my application, but was pleasantly surprised to receive my conditional approval the next day on 9/1. With great luck, I managed to snag a cancelled appointment the very next morning, 9/2 (today) at my local airport. Came in with all my documents. My interviewer was cordial and did not ask a single question about my criminal history, nor did I show anyone my court document. This seems like a big YMMV as literally the first words out of the other agent's mouth to the man being interviewed next to me were "have you ever been arrested?" (his answer was no). I'm guessing that my record didn't show up on CBP's side because I was never fingerprinted relating to these charges. The agent took my photo and fingerprints, confirmed my address, asked a few generic questions about my employment, clicked around on the computer for a while, then told me I would be approved and sent me on my way. Received the approval email as I was leaving the airport!
