Before my cruise last week, I arrived in Anchorage, spent two nights there. I'd recommend renting a car, and if you want to see moose go to Kincaid Park - I saw a mom and her calf one day, and the next day another mom and her two calves. For salmon, there are tons of viewing areas, one right in town. A trip up to the edge of Denali is also worth it!
