I rang the gold line and they say its a flat fee of £65 for oversize baggage, but the website says nothing over 36kg.

Any one have any experience of whether we can take this with us, and if so is the agent correct about the flat fee (most airlines charge per Kg over a set weight...) ?
No experience, but https://www.britishairways.com/en-gb...age-allowances does mention a £65 per overweight bag, but also says "Bags over 32kg won’t be accepted as checked baggage."

Size itself wouldn't be a problem, as it says for oversize "maximum dimensions for an oversize bag in the hold are 190 x 75 x 65cm."

In the sports section, they say for heavy stuff refer to cargo service, so try: https://www.iagcargo.com/en/contact-us/lhr
