To my knowledge you won't find another chain that guarantees you all the elite perks, points, chance of upgrades, etc. when you book via an OTA -- whether it's Booking.com, Kayak, TripAdvisor, Expedia, or what have you. You have to book directly with the hotel or brand website to assure recognition. Some individuals at random properties may give you a bottle of water out of sympathy, but it's at their whim.
