I understood that reward tickets got the benefits of the booking FB member - even if the recipient travelling alone, but speaking (typing) to AF CS on whatapp say she only gets the benefits if we're on the same reservation.
Your understanding is correct. I'm booking award tickets for relatives on a regular basis and they would always get the STE+ benefits, even when travelling alone. Updating the award ticket with the new status might be a challenge, though.
