Yes, walking from the hotel to the Colosseum takes about 25 minutes. But there are so many places to see along the way. You just don't walk directly to the Colosseum and walk back. We find that walking is the best option.
We spent the first day walking to the Colosseum and visiting other places in that direction, the second day walking to the Spanish Steps and visiting places in that direction, and the last day walking to the Vatican Museum and visiting other places in that direction.
All of this walking done and we are not even very physically fit!
