I really don't know if this is a well known 'hack' or secret routing. I came up with this myself so to speak.
I played around with it from BUD and found this: https://www.google.ch/travel/flights...en-US&curr=EUR
If I am not not calculatiing incorrectly, this should give you in total: 145 TP
BUD - LHR x 2 = 24
LHR - LAX/SEA x 2 = 70
SEA - DFW - MEX = 27
MEX - DFW - LAX = 24

For 1240 EUR this is not too bad.

If you really want to splurge and earn 232 TP in one go you can upgade to Business.
This is 68% more expensive than premium economy but earns 'only' 60% more points.
Considering though that requalification to Gold with QR is 270 TP, you could do this one flight and do one additional RT with QR and then you are done for another year.
