These replies are very interesting, thank you.

I usually tend to sit towards the back of J cabin, if that's near the second door (depending on aircraft of course) because that is often the door that gets connected to the jet bridge and so I'm one of the first off.

Anyway, in my experience of my most recent J class long hauls (three to Washington, one to Tel Aviv) I have never knowingly been asked first as a Gold pax about my meal preference.

Seems like from the answers above it does happen, but I must just have been on those ones where it hasn't.
