Yes, for stays at properties outside of the U.S., such a request may not raise a flag and I had this happened to me previously for a stay outside of the U.S. However, if this happened for a stay for the U.S. properties (never happened to me before) as a U.S. resident using a U.S. issued credit card, then such would raise a flag for me.
