I disagree with the above post as regards Cathay flight crew numbers.
The airline has sufficient fully qualified captains and FOs to be able to fly its 70% year end schedule and has publicly posted this several times with now its reported a forecast 100+ pilots to spare at year end. Certainly more will be required going in to 2024 but CX is publicly confident that they will have more than enough crew. We have several friends who are pilots for the airline and Cathay's HK Express who say yes they are very busy but the crewing situation has improved greatly over the past few months although flight numbers are increasing month by month.
This as significant numbers have been recruited or rejoined the airline over the past months many from Australia,New Zealand and South Africa as the pay and conditions are better at CX than at there local airlines or they want the long haul experience and opportunity and fast advancement offered offered by a large top 10 rated airline. .
There are a group of 10 or so disgruntled retired or fired ex CX pilots who frequently post this nonsense on the pprune 'fragrant harbour' forum and have been doing so the past several years to the point that they are now largely ignored and few now post on the FH forum
