I called Alaska for ~30 minutes when I was told the first-class ticket was an economy seat at the check-in counter. Put Alaska staff on speak and she verbally confirmed to Hainan Airline that my seat was First Class even though Hainan Airline didn't take it. After that, numerous attempts were made to contact Alaska in the following weeks.... Contacted BBB and now DOT. Let's see how that goes.
