In your case, you’re not purchasing a DPS-SIN + SIN-BKK ticket, but DPS-BKK. It’ll be priced as a through J fare even if you’re sitting in Y for part of the journey.

If you find that booking each segment in your desired class works out cheaper, think about the lack of IRROPS/schedule change protection, then decide if it’s really worthwhile.
The fares on my chosen day are:
  1. DPS-SIN-BKK J all the way on one ticket - £568
  2. J to SIN and Y to BKK - £387 + £198 = £585
  3. Y to SIN and J to BKK - £100 + £548 = £648

I guess it's obvious which is best value
