I'm going to push back on this and call it PASSIVE noise cancellation.
Otherwise, where are the microphones? Can you disable it?

Yes, the paper wrapper says "active". But I say "bs".

Note - there IS power draw for audio boost, and that's what makes them louder than using an adapter, which cannot draw the power > pass on to headphones.
