I'd leave minimum 2 - 2.5 hours to get to SFO. You could be stuck in traffic all the way from Albany. If you're not familiar, bay area traffic absolutely sucks and the eastshore (80 through Berkeley and Emeryville) then across the bridge and through the city, is one of the worst possible drives.
(And in case you think I'm being overly conservative, I regularly tell hotel concierges in cities around the world "we are not leaving for the airport 3 hours prior to the flight . . . 90 minutes will be fine.")
