On another note, a friend recently overheard a boarding announcement for a Delta LAX-OGG flight. The Delta gate agent said to definitely NOT board the plane unless you live on Maui or had pressing business on Maui or were going in relation to the situation there. They specifically stated that you should NOT be getting on the plane for leisure.

I'm assuming this was some well-meaning but rogue Delta employee and not a directive from Delta corporate.
