i tend to agree, if you can find a TA who knows his stuff, I have one who is a former LH employee, so this works (although as HON I am much less concerned about these situations now). I did not know anybody for BA (which I tend to avoid anyway if I can help it), so thanks for the reference.
back to original topic, it‘s a mass phenomenon, loads of people still stranded, unable to get back as all transport to the funny island is pretty solidly booked out (including Eurostar apparently until the end of the week).
