BA Y fares - fully refundable after departure still?
I'm travelling today on an RFS CE ticket to an EU destination. As I start an ex-EU from there tomorrow to meet professional commitments, I've protected myself with a Y fare ticket on a later BA flight which I felt likely to zero out, rendering rebooking impossible should my RFS flight get cancelled.
The last time I bought a full-fare Y ticket was over ten years ago. At that time you could check in, no-show at the gate and still receive a full refund the next day. Is that generally still the case? The specific fare rules in this case make no reference to no-shows - just 'fare component is fully refundable - refund permitted within ticket validity'. I presume ticket validity means one year from ticketing. The coupon does not specify NVB or NVA dates.
Morally, I question whether I'm holding a seat which would be useful to another traveller - but I feel there will be enough standbys to take the seat.
