5 night stay at the Kimpton Fitzroy
I stayed the week of 19th to 26th of August and it looks like I was there whilst a few other FTers where around.
I had originally booked the Holiday Inn Bloomsbury as London was expensive for most hotels this week but upon reading the reviews I switched to the Fitzroy for an additional 40 quid a night.
So very glad I did as the difference was immeasurable. (Pro tip, don't stay at HI Bloomsbury.)
Used a confirmable suite upgrade for the stay and was given room 452, a junior suite.
We had a heap of luggage so this was exactly what we needed. There isn't a great view of the park but the rooms are quiet due to the double glazing.
The doorman Abdul was a complete star. He was always keen to assist and arranged taxis for us with a smile.
He's a real asset to the hotel.
London also had a great week of weather which was amazing, so a few early morning walks down Oxford St & surrounds were great to see the sights before the crowds came out.
Breakfast was part of my diamond amenity and was OK.
As a fussy Australian, coffee is important enough to me to carry a Nespresso machine on long trips but there was one in the room.
The pods were not great but I had plenty of my own I had brought with me.
Had dinner in Galvin one night which was good and I tried the summer taste menu which was good value.
The only real issue I had was how busy the front desk was at most times of the day and getting through on the internal phone was difficult at times.
Overall I would give it an 8/10.
