Thanks. Does anyone know if it is faster to get a L visa over a Q2 visa now?
I was originally applying for a Q2 visa but I see that I need "Copy of Certificate of kinship between the inviting party and the invitee". The invitee is my uncle, but I don't have a certificate to show this. So I am now wondering if it would just be easier to get a L visa? Anyone have experience?
Thanks!
Unless the rules have changed since March of this year, a certificate of kinship is only required for a Q1 visa. For a Q2 visa, a signed statement from the inviting Chinese citizen describing his or her family connection to the invitee is sufficient. Email your local consulate to confirm.

You cannot get a residence permit with a Q2 visa. Only Q1.
But I think a Q2 visa (generally granted for stays of up to 120 days) does allow you to get a temporary driver's license (which requires a visa with a stay period greater than 90 days).
