At the risk of feeding a possible troll, I will add my two cents. When traveling on business, it is fairly common for me to have a morning arrival time. When I do, I try to arrange my schedule so I have enough time to stop at the hotel before going to my first meeting. Almost all of the time I am able to check in early. If I can't, I just ask the front desk to hold my luggage until I return later in the day after my meetings. Being able to drop off my luggage, rather than having to haul it with me all day to my meetings is a huge win. Being able to drop it off in my room is a significant bonus and something I will take into account when planning for future trips. Sidebar, for most business trips I do not have a car. If I had a car and could just leave my luggage in the trunk, the need to go by the hotel first is greatly reduced. It is still nice to already have access to my room so I don't have to first check in at the end of a long day.
TL;DR While I don't expect to be able to check in early, it is a significant bonus that I value highly. As long as a property will at least hold my luggage until check-in, I am good. When I can check in early that is even better and greatly appreciated. YMMV...
