...I think your advice is fundamentally not to use budget airlines, not to use different airlines for different legs, keep sufficient layover time - all is good, but it reduces risk and hence increases price. When I go google flight search, nowadays kiwi.com flight itin comes up. I guess they give you a risky / cheaper option - it is up to you to take it.
I wouldn't read plunet's post that way. plunet's pointing out that Kiwi.com's almost-but-not-quite-deceptive practices mean that consumers struggle to understand the nature of the tickets they are buying.

The fact that you - someone who I presume is a reasonably sophisticated traveller - came on here wondering why kiwi.com would be saying you needed to enter Vietnam when you thought you would merely be able to sit in a transit lounge in SGN (and still can't say definitively what will happen when you reach SGN) highlights the sorts of difficulties these itineraries cobbled together by kiwi.com create, particularly for ordinary consumers who mightn't understand what they're getting into.

When coupled with their reputation for woeful customer service and a self-transfer guarantee that has more holes than Swiss cheese, you'd have to be nuts to use them, even compared to booking the tickets on the Kiwi itinerary separately through the respective airlines (so that at least you know what you'd be in for and could deal with the airlines directly if there were difficulties).
