Review of my stay in August 2023

What is your IHG One Rewards status?
Diamond Royal Ambassador Inner Circle

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes, very much.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Premium Room. As the hotel was fully booked (marriage), staff apologized for not upgrading to a suite.
I had the choice between King Premium or Queen Premium facing Russell Square Garden. I chosed the latter as I love park view.

As my room wa not ready at time of check-in, I was given a waiting room, the intriguing Single City.

How are the rooms?
The Single City is tiny indeed, but very well appointed. You have the feeling to be in a luxury night train cabin or (a large) Air France Première suite (I must confess I liked very much the room).

Very comfortable single bed with usb sockets. Small closet.
Table with chair (usb and power sockets next to the chair)
Television that can be rotated, so that it can be viewed from either the table or the bed.
Bathroom with bathtub. Nice 19-69 toiletries.

Heated towel rail.
View over the inner courtyard, but very bright.

The Queen Premium Park view room is around 25 sqm
Very nicely designed in light/natural colours palette

Bedroom with very comfortable bed.
Closet

Dining table.

Bathroom with bathtub.
Nice 19-69 toiletries.
Heated towel rail.

Minibar with water and milk only.

View over Russell Square.

Nespresso machine/kettle.

Flatscreen television with large choice of national cable channels and some international ones. No Chromecast.

Usb sockets next to the bed and desk
No free PressReader.
Very quiet.

Switch to control and adjust the intensity of the lights.

What was good and what was bad?
Good:
  • Very nice design of the accommodations.
  • Great historic building superbly renovated.
  • Central location, with easy access to the St Pancras station, and close to the British Museum. Very pleasant and leafy neighborhood.
  • Free bicycles.
  • Very attentive and smiling staff
  • Excellent lunch at Galvin Bar & Grill
  • Great breakfast (now same food options at both Burr & Co. and Galvin Bar & Grill).
  • 2 cocktails for social password

Bad:
  • Nothing indeed.

Value for $ or IHG One Rewards Points? Would you return?
Yes, definitely for quality of service, very good restaurant, room, atmosphere and location.
