This reminds me of that thread where a new user account was created to respond to a thread that had been inactive for 10 years. The premise of the thread was annoyance at a front desk agent for taking too long to check a guest in as they had left the desk for an unspecified time. Whether or not the guest had ever checked in was left in the air, so the joke became that the front desk agent finally came back after 10 years and responded to said guest via a new FT account ;-)

Contrary to our new caps-loving poster, I have never been charged an early check-in fee even if inquiring for available rooms before check-out time. If a room is empty, logic dictates that it makes sense to allocate those rooms to arriving guests who sometimes will arrive early due to flight schedules, etc.

Edit to add: It would be nice to know which hotel this poster works at, so I can know to avoid their particular brand of aggressive "hospitality."
