Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend this hidden gem of a property. My kids, my wife, and I just stayed at the Sapphire House Antwerp in middle of August. This was truly one of my best Marriott stays ever.
We made a last-minute reservation for 2 nights on points as we wanted to visit Bruges on our way from Amsterdam to Paris. I looked at all of the hotel options available using points with Ghent, Brussels, and Antwerp showed up for redemptions with the big chains. I spoke to the Sapphire House manager less than 24 hours prior to arrival asking if a suite upgrade was possible given no rooms using points were showing available that could accommodate our party of 4. They had availability and provided a complimentary upgrade to a Brilliant Diamond Suite (2nd floor). Note, Antwerp is about 1 hour 20 minutes from Bruges by train. There are closer properties, but this one could accommodate our family of 4.
The hotel is about a 12 minute walk from the train station. It's one block over from the main street where there are tons of shops and restaurants. As soon as you walk into the hotel, you know that you are staying somewhere luxurious. The hotel is beautifully decorated with high ceilings and grand staircases.
Our room felt grand, luxurious, and faced a pretty courtyard where breakfast is served. Only negatives are no formal closet and a little dark because there's only one small window. There are drawers for your clothes and we used the lights/lamps to brighten up the room. Service at this property is friendly and impeccable. We called for numerous items throughout the day and night with housekeeping or the front desk desk addressing our needs within minutes.
While there is no lounge at the property, there is no charge for the in-room mini-bar (sodas, regular water, sparking water, etc.) and they will refill at your request. Premium alcohol in the room costs extra. Our room had a king bed plus a sofa bed that comfortably slept 2 people.
As a titanium, breakfast was free for the entire family. The breakfast is served in their beautiful restaurant. The food felt fresh, healthy, and tasty. There were numerous vegetarian-friendly buffet items plus you could order custom items off the menu. I loved the fresh juices, pastries, yogurts, fresh fruit, etc. We did the buffet plus special-ordered pancakes, regular scrambled eggs, vegan omelet, and their signature dish (changes daily).
