I agree that there isn't much you can do now, so for example if you think VS has an option for you, what if VS sells all tickets tomorrow? Just be aware of this thread if something happens, but if it does, and you are not sure about any detail, then just ping this forum, there is usually someone about who can give good quality advice quite quickly. Overthinking is quite a feature around here, and I don't blame you for not wanting a repeat of your previous episode, but most days BA sends out around 99% of scheduled flights, and some days 100%.
