I would be cautious of the "zoom lens syndrome" that you many times get by watching the very short reports that get featured in the international news. Im not advocating you ignore them, but I would not make them the sole data point to use as a base for your travel decision. Yes, the current economic woes of a very large portion of Argentines are very real and very serious, but as tourists you will not have any serious issues unless you wander out into the wrong areas at the wrong times. Use common sense, avoid touristy areas when there are demonstrations and stay informed of whats going on in the city you are visiting. Dont bring any fancy jewelry, expensive watches, and be aware of your surroundings... you will be fine.
Im an Argentine native so I am biased, but Im sure the other board regulars that are experienced visitors to EZE will be able to give you their perspectives.
I'll be in BA next Thurs for 5 nights (1 day to Colonia) not worried and will simply ask at my hotel, where if any place I should avoid being if any at all
