I have also found that if I'm a repeat guests at such a properties and have gone through the "validation process" previously, I tend not to get asked again.

Overall though, the most "checks / verifications" I have encountered around the world have definitely been in Japan, but mostly for our property level negotiated rates that can undercut best flex rates by 50-60% at times. YMMV.
