That is correct - I caught attention of the first check-in agent over the fence as she was walking at the side of the counters, and then I watched the security personnel walk with my passport to a UA agent (as I said). General public that does not pass security checkpoint (so, without an outbound UA flight from MUC) would not have access to UA agents.

Well, it was far fetched, but thought I would give it a shot. Only the feeder flight was a partner flight, all long-hauls were operated by UA. I was hoping they would have some sort of allowances if the flights I wanted to rebook to eliminated codeshare (so, UA gets 100% of the revenue...), but I learned that lesson for the next time I book.
