Unfortunately, with your restrictions, it most likely means you will need you will have to fly Delta and spend the $1400+ to earn the needed MQDS.
I would try to maximize the MQMs though. Maybe a ticket in First class to San Juan (SJU). e.g. Sept. 16, LAX-ATL-SJU-DTW-LAX, $1684, about 10,500 MQMs, $1619 MQDs (leave shortly after midnight, get back to LAX at 10:30pm)
Flights to Kona (KOA) via Seattle will get you similar mileage. Prices are comparable.
Lowest price is most likely to do several trips in Economy to get as close to $1400 as possible.
