I wondered the same, as I had booked a trip for our daughter. Booked with miles for OW and then wallet funds for return .
She has card and free checked bag was on her PNR, both ways.
I would think “outside” funds would be issue for checked bag. I am thinking that Credit certificate deposited into Wallet would be considered AS funds.
