I've been in Moorea and Tahiti for the last 9 days and I just checked the app and we got a complimentary upgrade to a king deluxe overwater villa for our 7 night stay that we check-in for tomorrow! I was extremely surprised given that right now it's in the middle of the high season. I sent them an e-mail right when I booked the stay on points early in March and they told me they give upgrade offers two weeks before the stay.

Right before two weeks before check-in, I sent them an e-mail specifically asking for a complimentary Diamond upgrade and they sent me back an offer for $1,250 a night to upgrade to a pool overwater villa. I didn't respond to it but about 5 days before check in, I responded to the e-mail that was asking about my flight information and once again asked about a complimentary Diamond upgrade. They responded by giving me details on the boat transfer and also said they took note of my upgrade request and cannot confirm it but will do their best upon check-in. Well, I just checked today and our 7 night stay got fully upgraded! 5 nights on points and 2 annual free night vouchers.

One of those annual free night vouchers was booked on my girlfriend's Hilton account who is also a Diamond member. Maybe us both being Diamond members helped secure a complimentary upgrade?
