Here are my questions:

1. Emirates mile calculator suggests that I can redeem 9x,xxx miles to upgrade to First class for whole 2 legs flight. But in Emirates app, it suggests I have to spend mile each leg. 5x,xxx for BKK to DXB and 9x,xxx from DXB to IAH, total of 14x,xxx. Which one is correct?
2. Cash upgrade is offered in the app $800 for 2 legs return flight from IAH to BKK. Is it worth the price? I can see that buying miles to upgrade is more expensive but I just want to make sure.
3. This might be just me hallucinating or something but I think I saw app Cash upgrade option split into 2 legs IAH-DXB and DXB-BKK, is that actually happen?

Thanks!
Hello ticktacktuck, welcome to FlyerTalk and the Emirates forum.

To answer your questions:

1. IF you can upgrade both legs at the same time (meaning that there is availability on both legs), you will be charged the 9xx.xxx miles. But if you upgrade a single leg it is the lower amount for that leg. If and when the other leg then becomes available, you must NOT get that upgrade on line but phone the call centre and ask them to combine the upgrades. They cannot do this retrospectively and then you’ll end up paying the much higher total number of miles.
2. Whether or not it;s worth the price is entirely your decision.
3. You MAY get an (email) offer for cash upgrade for one leg and then the next day or so for the second leg. In my experience these are not good deals, but others seem to have better offers. In the app, I have never seen a cash upgrade for a single leg of a multi leg journey. Just (in your case) for BKK to IAH.
