We have two Centurion cards and three Platinums on the account. The concierge service has gone from a 10 to a 1, so no value there. One of us is moderately close to an Equinox. Hadn't used Amex travel in a while due to constant screw-ups and true to form I had to spend hours correcting issues on what should have been an easy flight to London a few months ago. Last year, had a hotel reservation in Napa at twice the going rate, that Amex would not match. The other Centurion holder on the account uses American as her primary airline. Those are the negatives.

We pay $10,175 in fees annually. Everyone travels 1-3 times per month with everything over 1,500 miles in paid F or J. The two Boomer females will stay in a Westin or Marriott under duress but if there is a Ritz, Four Seasons or FHR in the vicinity, those are the strong preference (I've been married for 43 years and plan to stay that way). Rental car, hotel, airline upgrades, Saks, special deals and DL Sky Club are worth about $25k each year according to my spreadsheet. I'm too old to need wallet candy but the CBA strongly supports maintaining the cards at this time. In addition, the time and hassle savings are massive during travel and especially during irops.

I came to the realization several years ago that Amex really doesn't want me as a Centurion customer anymore since they can make more money by churning the membership and raking in new initiation fees. When the card loses its' value, I'll downgrade.

YMMV
