Actually, a lot of people we know are starting to look at alternatives to flying, e.g. holidaying by train (much as I did as a child, given we didn't have a car back in the dark ages). I don't know how much a luxury train trip or multiple journeys using a rail pass compares ,environmentally, to flying to your destination but I imagine it has less of an impact.

I feel a bit deflated about my avios / companion voucher collecting, which I'd previously felt quite proud of. Also a bit addicted to.

Maybe I'll just plant some more trees myself....
