I've consistently been treated very well at this property. Probably around two dozen stays, only twice were they unable to upgrade me to a suite, and they were very apologetic. Note that the suites here, esp. Broadway, are not true suites, but the Signature suites are close (no physical divider but still a distinctly separate living space). The terrace rooms with the west view of the bay are also nice, though they are small. The property tends to be busier (and more expensive) during the week, as they get a fair bit of corporate event business. I have many stays both weekdays and weekends.

Recently I've been staying more at HR Downtown/SOMA.
