If she goes into her booking at the QR website, and clicks the cancel button it will show how much will be refunded before she has to commit to the cancellation.

Also, depending what fare type she has, where she bought it, and if there have been any previous changes, she may also be eligible for a voucher for the full fare paid plus 10%, to be used within 12 months
Thank you for your help. I’ll tell her to do that. Unfortunately the cause of the cancellation means she’s unlikely to be able to use the voucher within a year, so probably better to cancel.
