One question Even if you can get back through security at the Delta terminal with your BA boarding pass can you get your luggage there (AKA are you packing anything not allowed in the gate area... full size liquids, hiking sticks with pointed ends etc...)
Some suggested there is a Terminal 4 luggage checking facility. So, the routine would be retrieve luggage, check luggage at checking facility, use BA boarding pass to access a Delta Terminal 4 lounge, then eventually retrieve luggage and use JFK Sky Train to travel to Terminal 8 with luggage. It appears the Terminal 4 luggage check is $25 per bag. (We would have 4).
Another suggestion in a BA thread to the effect that since BA moved from Terminal 7 to 8, they no longer have a completely closed period for luggage drop between last morning flight and mid-afternoon, but leave at least one position open when they close after last morning flight. Have not been able yet to verify this info.
