Thank you both for the replies, so i guess what i'm understanding is if i wanted to use the capital one miles i had to first see what airlines it can be used to upgrade, and get a flight with any of those companies?

For example KLM/Air France, British Airways or Virgin, or Probably best Air Canada because they work with both capital one and american express so all my points can be joined into one account
