Also, if I am correctly guessing that your award ticket is not booked through BAEC but through a partner (I presume AA), then no, BA will not change the ticket even if award space opens up. If you want to change, you'll need to call AA and do it through them. As noted, IRROPS would be the only exception here.
No, I booked the tickets through ba avios . They indicated that availability might open up closer in but I’m not sure where to check or request?

also, I don’t have a working Sim card or phone number over here, so is there a way to do it through chat or online?
