What cabin(s) will you mostly be in when you do fly BA? Your F trip to DFW will give you better benefits than Silver would get you anyway.
If that’s a one-off and you’d mostly be flying in economy/premium economy, it would be worth going for Silver for lounge access, priority boarding, fast-track security where available, etc. If you’ll mostly be in F/J, the benefits of Silver are less important.
I agree. I always fly J and now I only book using Avios, so I am going down to Blue status. And the only difference I've seen is that you need to pay for seat reservations. I thought about doing a tier point run, but I would spend more on that than on seat reservations so there isn't much point.
