FWIW, I too am surprised that BA considered it a valid itinerary.

Thanks pandaperth . So my options are:

1) DOH-EBB-DOH-SYD, but this would add another continent (Asia), or
2) DOH-EBB-JNB-SYD with a surface sector between EBB and JNB (we are going to KGL from EBB so would be a separate flight with RwandAir from KGL to JNB). Anyone flown RwandAir??

Is there a significant cost difference between DONE4 and DONE5? We were only planning a short stop in JNB and included to avoid adding an additional continent to the fare (to get to Sydney). The business class fare from KGL to JNB is ~£470pp so what we do will depend on fare difference between DONE4 and DONE5.

As Europe/Middle East are considered one continent I assume segments 14 to 16 are within the rules.

ps. When I called BA they put dummy flights in and got the itinerary to work, I am equally puzzled 😕
