According to https://www.mauinews.com/news/local-...s-daily-rates/, there are 40 properties in Maui County, representing 9,757 rooms - not including vacation rental and timeshare properties. Very few were located in Lahaina, affected by the fire, I saw a statistic elsewhere that FEMA provided temporary housing for 750 families - primarily in hotels. So while it will likely be 5 - 10 years until Lahaina is fully rebuilt, it should not take very long to get the Kaanapali/Kapalua region back up and running.
Bigger issues for reopening of West Maui include keeping tourists out of Lahaina, providing an alternative to Lahaina Harbor on the West side - Ma'alea Harbor cannot take up all of the slack. Considering the financial pressures, it is reasonable to expect the State and County to push hard for short-term solutions - months rather than years.
