You're also overlooking it makes for an incredibly awkward situation when you have to say 'no' in those scenarios for both parties.
​​Yes it can be awkward as you're then the one left feeling you've prevented others enjoyment from sitting together. Almost passive /aggressive behaviour on the part of the person asking to swap out. But in your situation I'd have said 6F didn't have to upgrade and at extremely short notice should have anticipated last dibs on where they sat before accepting the POUG. It used to make me feel awkward, now I just say no, I prefer to stay where I am thanks and leave it at that.
