For travelling (eco) on Delta IND-ATL-ICN then connecting to KE ICN-PVG, will they check the luggage through if I am travelling on 2 separate tickets? And, do you think the luggage will make it if I have a 2-and half hour transfer at ICN? Lastly, just to make sure: if luggage is checked through or if I travel only with carry-on, there is no need to enter Korea and check-in again for the flight to Shanghai, correct? Will KE just give me the boarding pass at the transit counter?
1. Since KE and DL are not only in the same alliance but also have a joint venture agreement (super-partners), I’d say your chances of interlining are high.
I managed to interline 3 times so far with no questions asked from ICN (KE to AF).
2. 2.5H is more than enough for the bags to connect, I never saw an airport as efficient as ICN with regards to luggage. Bags tend to be on the luggage belt before you even get there.
3. Just use the electronic boarding pass you get after online check-in.
