For convective and tropical weather, you don't use end result to negate the need to prepare. You evacuate on a 5-20% chance of getting hit. Everyone should've gased up and stocked up (but not all at Costco), You don't criticize when apocalypse didn't happen where you are 80-95% of the time.
I got a little more rain than weather underground was predicting for my neighborhood. Three times as much in the same time would have been just fine, too.
