I had the same concerns, but was quite impressed with the food. We just finished up LAX-TPE-BKK with a 6yo and the children's meal looked excellent. Granted that 1am departure from LAX meant the kiddo wasn't super hungry and ended up not eating a lot but the food wasn't just chicken nuggets. There was vegetables in a face, bread, and a full chicken breast. I don't have great photos but it did look pretty excellent.

Also wanted to note that the crew was great and held on the meal until said kid woke up a few hours into the flight, but still got a couple courses in.

Also not sure about the 11yo but our slightly older one just did regular book the cook but didn't really care for the cherry sauce on the duck. However loved the rest of the food on the remaining flights.
