Hello, I would appreciate it if someone who has stayed at this property lately can let me know if Tokyo Marriott is a decent choice for my situation?
Family trip, first time to Japan in November and very excited. We are starting and ending the trip in Tokyo (3 nights at the beginning, 3 nights at end). Trip is a splurge so trying to do as much as possible with Bonvoy points to help with hotel costs. We were able to get AC Ginza for the 3 nights at the beginning of the trip, but we waited a while to book the second part in Tokyo while earning more points. Options were kind of limited by the time we booked especially given the second stay in Tokyo is over a weekend so that several properties are now booked up for award travel, and of course the redemption rates for the properties still available had increased yet again. So anyways we booked this Tokyo Marriott on points recently, and I am having some doubts about it.
I am not too thrilled about the distance from the train station but I am trying to tell myself that it will be nice to have larger rooms, be relatively close to Shinagawa (given we will be arriving by bullet train for this second leg in Tokyo) and the location is close to Haneda so it will be easier to catch our 10 am flight when we leave. At this point the only other redemptions left within our points balance are Aloft Ginza and Courtyard Tokyo Station. I suspect my family will have a real problem with the room size at Courtyard Tokyo Station, and for Aloft Ginza I am not so sure I want to go back to there given we will have already spent 3 nights at AC Ginza earlier in the trip.
Someone tell me my thinking is in line here and Marriott is decent and it didn't wreck your sightseeing? I am really worried that the travel time for sight seeing is going to be bummer just because of the distance between station and hotel and I want to focus on the positives. I am thinking the shuttle will help. What about if you want to taxi back and forth to Shinagawa? Is that fairly easy to do if you miss shuttle and do taxi drivers balk at the short distance? I am hoping that by the end of the trip we will value the larger rooms and breakfast spread and we will be slowing down and tiring out, so hopefully the amenities will balance out the location woes.
